The latest COC podcast is out featuring Alia Rosenstock, Wayne Gooding, Gianmarco Segato and myself. Topics include the crisis in the Italian opera industry, best operas of recent decades and much more. It’s available on iTunes and on the COC websire.
The latest The Big COC Podcast features regulars Gianmarco Segato of the COC, Wayne Gooding of Opera Canada magazine and myself. The twist is that we are joined by Topher Mokrzewski and Joel Ivany; respectively the music director and artistic director of Against the Grain Theatre. As regular readers will know they are also the co-creators of Figaro’s Wedding and two of the rising stars of the Canadian opera scene. I think it made for an unusually interesting episode but, man, do I talk slowly.
You can find the podcast on the COC website and on iTunes.
45 minutes of Gianmarco Segato, Alia Rosenstock, Joseph So and myself discussing opera awards, crossover “artists”, the oft proclaimed death of the art song recital, the new opera house in St. Petersburg and consolidation in the recording industry.
You can listen here or download it from iTunes.
Gianmarco Segato, Joseph So, Paula Citron and myself discuss standing ovations and other aspects of audience etiquette, pants (trouser for the Brits) roles and the weird reaction to them of some sections of the Toronto audience and our picks from recent webstreams and DVDs. Listen here or download from iTunes.
Episode 8 of The Big COC Podcast is up with Gianmarco Segato, Wayne Gooding, Claire Morley and myself. We talk about the COC season announcement, Sir Peter Jonas’ bizarre article from Opera magazine about the German opera scene, opera in translation and the fine art of seat jumping!
You can find it on iTunes or at this link.
